Broadcast is changing, and we’re changing with it. Your local cable TV station, Nevada County Television, will soon become part of the new Nevada County Digital Media Center, where community members of all ages will learn and use new digital pathways for community involvement, self-expression and job skills development.
To inspire, educate and enable Nevada County residents to learn and use all means of technology
to increase civic engagement, develop digital media literacy skills, and enrich the cultural life of our
community.
All county residents with Internet access can view NCTV programming on the Internet at any time, 24/7,
at www.nevadacountytv.org .
Local Business: find out how to use today’s technology to grow your business with video, social media and more.
Non-Profits: learn to use compelling visuals and audio to effectively tell your story to your stakeholders and to make your grant proposals and reports come alive.
Community Members: learn new media technologies for self-expression, social engagement, and job skills development.
Students & Young Adults: use state-of-theart equipment, learn new skills in digital media, and find internship opportunities with local high-tech companies.
Our schools are not equipped to teach the digital literacy skills young people need to be competent workers, engaged citizens, and lifelong learners in the 21st century. In an age of world-wide instantaneous connectivity, we will help prepare the next generation of media-literate communicators, leaders and technology workers.
According to the Employment Development Department, more than 44,000 jobs go unfilled in California every year because employers can’t find workers trained in digital media skills. The Nevada County Digital Media Center will be a resource not only for young people, but also for adult workers who need to be re-trained in new job skills for the 21st century digital workplace.
The Media Center will be advised by a Digital Media Council comprised of local high-tech companies who are committed to the social and economic vitality of this community and to preserving the legacy of world-class video production in western Nevada County.
